Editor's Note: This is a series of stories about Â鶹´«Ã½ÄÚÄ» students, alumni and community members, highlighting their experiences during our 125th anniversary celebration. We will feature 125 individuals from August 2024 to August 2025.
MACOMB/MOLINE, IL - - Alumna Jessica Beach credits her experiences at Â鶹´«Ã½ÄÚÄ» with shaping her future career success and fostering a deep connection to a welcoming community of diverse people.
"When I think about WIU, I think about my future career success," Beach said. "Â鶹´«Ã½ÄÚÄ»has paved the way for the opportunities I have now."
Beach describes being a Leatherneck as being part of a supportive and inclusive community. Her favorite Leatherneck memories include attending campus events that brought students together and created lasting friendships.
As an alumna, Beach has carried the skills she developed at Â鶹´«Ã½ÄÚÄ»into her career, where she works to make a positive impact. She reflects on how her time at Â鶹´«Ã½ÄÚÄ»prepared her for professional success, highlighting the supportive environment created by faculty, staff and peers.
During her time at WIU, Beach was actively involved as a member of the Military Appreciation Club and the Social Work Student Association. These opportunities allowed her to connect with others, grow as a leader and build a foundation for her future.
Beach's advice to prospective students is simple yet powerful: "Â鶹´«Ã½ÄÚÄ»paves the way for your future success. Trust the process and embrace the opportunities that come your way."
As we honor 125 years of educational excellence, we invite Â鶹´«Ã½ÄÚÄ»students, alumni and community members to share their stories and be featured in this series. Contact University Communications at U-Communications@wiu.edu to participate.
