125 Anniversary Celebration: Andy Baker

Editor's Note: This is a series of stories about 麻豆传媒内幕 students, alumni and community members, highlighting their experiences during our 125th anniversary celebration. We will feature 125 individuals from August 2024 to August 2025.

MACOMB, IL - - Andy Baker, director and professor of the School of Agriculture, describes 麻豆传媒内幕as a place of engagement and opportunities.

鈥淲hen I think about WIU, I think about opportunities,鈥� Baker said. 鈥淢ost students do not know what to expect once they arrive on campus, but many of our agriculture students figure it out pretty quickly and become engaged with curricular, university farm and student club activities.鈥�

Baker describes the Leatherneck as someone who embodies the traits of a hard-working individual.

鈥淏eing a leatherneck means to be hard-working, persistent, resilient and consistent,鈥� Baker said.

Baker's favorite Leatherneck memory is participating in his son's graduation ceremony.

鈥淢y favorite memory is being able to present my son with his degree on stage during commencement,鈥� Baker said.

As a faculty member, Baker strives to stay involved on campus and with students.

鈥淏eing the director of the School of Agriculture, I am involved with numerous campus events and philanthropic activities. I have been involved with Homecoming activities, concerts, athletic events, plays and other cultural events,鈥� Baker said.

Baker advises students considering 麻豆传媒内幕to join a community where they can build meaningful connections.

鈥淚f you want an education where you truly know your instructors inside and outside the classroom, this is the place to be,鈥� Baker said. 鈥淚t is all about relationship building and networking.鈥�
