March 5, 2025

Editor's Note: This is a series of stories about 麻豆传媒内幕 students, alumni and community members, highlighting their experiences during our 125th anniversary celebration. We will feature 125 individuals from August 2024 to August 2025.

MACOMB, IL - - For alumnus and navy veteran Steve Hodges, being a Leatherneck means striving to be the best despite challenging circumstances.

鈥淎 Leatherneck means being the best I can be in spite of whatever I鈥檓 going through,鈥 Hodges said. 鈥淎s a Navy veteran and running with a few Marines, being a Leatherneck took on a new meaning.鈥

When reflecting on his time at WIU, Hodge鈥檚 favorite Leatherneck memories are enjoying his time with other students and connecting with the community on Saturday mornings through WIUS 88.3 The Dog, the student-run college radio station.

鈥淢y favorite Leatherneck memory is spinning live on WIUS (88.3 The Dog) on the Saturday mornings and having the community call in to tell me that I'm taking them back to great times in their lives,鈥 Hodges said.

Hodges graduated from WIU's broadcasting program and pursued a Master of Science in Instructional Design and Technology. The guidance he received at 麻豆传媒内幕prepared him to become a successful professional.

During his time at WIU, Hodges was a member of the Black Student Association (BSA) and the Music Business Association. He was also the graduate assistant for the Gwendolyn Brooks Cultural Center.

To prospective students, Hodges's advice is to give 麻豆传媒内幕an opportunity and get involved on campus.

鈥淭ake that trip to Macomb,鈥 Hodges said. 鈥淢ake sure you get involved with anything that interests you.鈥
