Withdrawals and Refunds

It is the student's responsibility to initiate formal withdrawal procedures within the proper refund/credit dates to avoid charges.

Total University Withdrawal

Students that advance register for classes and/or housing and do not anticipate returning to the University for the semester MUST complete the formal withdrawal process.

Prior to the first day of the semester, a student may completely withdraw from the University through STARS. On or after the first day of the semester, in order to completely withdraw from the University, students who are classified as full-time students must complete a or come in person to the Student Development and Success Center, located on the first floor of Memorial Hall, Room 125, during regular business hours, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Photo ID is required.

A student may withdraw during the first ten weeks of the regular spring and fall semester (or .6 of the length of the course). After the last day to withdraw, only students with exceptional and documented circumstances may appeal for late withdraw from the University.

Individual Course Withdrawal

Students may process individual course withdrawals through STARS during the first ten weeks of the regular spring and fall semester (or .6 of the length of the course).  After the last day to drop, only students with exceptional and documented circumstances may appeal for a late course withdrawal.

Refunds and Credits

Refunds/credits are not prorated for the dropping of individual courses. Only a total university withdrawal for the semester may be eligible for a prorated refund/credit.

How to Drop a Class
  1. Check with Financial Aid and your academic advisor before dropping a class.
  2. Login to STARS and select "Registration - Add/Drop Courses" from the "Academic" tab.
  3. Click on the "Drop" button next to the course you want to drop.
  4. Carefully read and follow the online instructions to confirm the drop.
